About Alicia
Alicia Boemi loves life on the lake—and her dogs. Her own dogs inspire her creativity, and her daughter provides the motivation for writing her children's picture books. Growing up, Alicia spent her summers on the shores of Geneva Lake, the inspirational backdrop for her work.
Alicia earned a degree in English Writing from Drake University and owns a pet-care business focusing on quality nutrition for our furry friends. She serves as the Social Media Coordinator for The Society of Children's Books Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) regional Illinois group and is a lifetime member of the Friends of the Lake Geneva Public Library. When not working or writing, Alicia is practicing her figure skating moves or making frequent trips to the lake she loves so much. She resides in northern Illinois, just south of the Wisconsin border, with her three dogs, beautiful daughter, and wildly supportive husband.
Alicia is the creator of the Lake Dog Adventures and Sue Dog children's book series. The Mailboat Dog is the first installment of the Lake Dog Adventure Series. Stinky Sue is the first book from the Sue Dog Series.
About Izzy
Izzy was born an adventure-seeking dog. Her favorite activities were swimming in Geneva Lake and hiking the mountains in Colorado. She loved to explore and travel, including riding on airplanes!
When Izzy wasn't experiencing the outdoors, she was keeping watch over her two-legged human sisters and two canine siblings. Where you'd mostly find her (at least in the summer), was jumping off her lake pier over and over again saying hi to all who passed by. She loved making friends with everyone she met, young or old. Passing away at the old age of 15, Izzy lived a full life. While we miss her beyond words, Alicia continues to honor her legacy through the Lake Dog Adventure Series books and sharing Izzy's love for the lake and adventures.
